About Me

My name is Hope Varwig and I’m the writer behind this little blog, Health with Hope. Thanks for stopping by – I’m so glad you’re here!

Health with Hope began as an online personal journal of sorts where I would write about races I ran or fun creations in the kitchen.

In March of 2013, I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition as a Certified Holistic Health Coach. Through one-on-one coaching programs, I support and empower my clients to form healthy eating habits, develop a consistent exercise routine, enjoy better sleep, decrease stress in their lives, and much more. Check out my website or Facebook page for more information about my programs! I’d love to talk with you about your health and wellness goals!

IMG_1622One of the reasons I decided to become a Holistic Health Coach is because of my own journey over the past 5 years, I’ve used food and exercise in unhealthy ways in the past, and it’s been a long and bumpy road to recovery. You can read about my battle with an eating disorder here. Going through these experiences taught me so much about having a healthy relationship with food. I’ve found balance and moderation in my life, which has greatly shaped the way I coach my clients. Deprivation and obsession about your diet and weight will only make you stressed and unhappy! My philosophy in my coaching practice is to help my clients develop patterns of healthy eating and exercise – but also know when to skip a workout or eat some cake.   🙂

When I’m not working, I spend my free time hiking, and trail running baking, weight-lifting, reading, and writing.

R+H_AO2_2399In June 2014, I married my best friend and love of my life. We settled down in St Louis (for now) and are happy both of our families are here in town too!

My faith in Jesus Christ is a huge part of my life. God has been there for me in every up and down and His love has kept me going in my most difficult times.

After finishing high school in St. Louis,  I moved down to Dallas, Texas, for a year-long internship at a non-profit organization. After my internship, I was employed there as an Administrative Assistant in the Broadcasting and Media Relations Department. During my time at this organization, I relocated to India for 6 months, which is when my eating disorder really took over my life. In May of 2011, I left this organization and moved back home to St Louis, and began the process of recovery. As I learned more about nutrition and how to have a healthy relationship with food, I realized I wanted to help others find that balance too. So, I began the certification process to become a Holistic Health Coach and now I have started my own business, doing something I love – helping others achieve a healthy, balanced life. In December of 2014, I became a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and adding personal training to my business! My passion is to use my knowledge of health and fitness to help others reach their goals and feel their best!
In June of 2016, my husband and I welcomed our adorable little girl into this world! She has changed our lives and makes us smile every single day with her grins and giggles. She’s such a happy baby. I work part-time a few afternoons a week now and have many adventures as a mama the rest of the time! 🙂

Enjoy my blog, and feel free to drop me a comment or email any time! I’d love to hear your story and encourage you in your journey too!
